Minimalism:

A very trendy, modern style of interior design is Minimalism. Minimalist interior includes a focus on functionality. Minimalism is an extremely simple aesthetic of interior design. It best can be defined to the definition of “less is more.” A minimalist home design delivers with natural light, clean lines, and simple furniture pieces. Home decor typically includes the bare minimum, and skips out on things such as bold statement pieces or decorative wall hangings. Most minimalism decor includes white walls, and focuses on mixing textures rather than filing a space with design. However, minimalist design is not meant to be boring. Instead, all aspects are intentional and functional. Additionally, many minimalist interior design styles lean into “feng shui,” an ancient Chinese practice of arranging furniture/objects in a way to create peace and harmony.

Maximalism:

Opposite to minimalist home design, maximalism offers the opportunity to go all out. Maximalist design encourages the use of bold patterns and bright colors. Colorful upholstery and huge chandeliers are also a common element of maximalism, and it can be comparable to art deco styles. Jewel tones are also commonly used. Layering textures and color schemes can transform your home. Some may say that maximalist decor can be overwhelming, but it can help alleviate the fear homeowners of adding too much; with maximalism, you can give in to an eclectic style and see what sticks.

Scandinavian:

Scandinavian interior design is a very popular interior design style. The scandinavian style is comparable to minimalism in the way that it features simple and clean motifs. Scandinavian design ideas include natural elements, such as light colored walls, naturally stained wooden furniture, large light fixtures, and a simple, neutral color palette. The nordic style is very clean and relaxed, with the addition of blankets, rugs, and pillows to make the space inviting. Scandinavian design can be compared to something such as contemporary design.

Bohemian:

Bohemian home design, also known as ‘boho,’ is one of the most favored interior design styles. Often times called “shabby chic,” the boho style focuses on combining natural elements and bright colors. Bold moldings and textiles help to create the aesthetic of a bohemian interior design. The design style often includes rattans, golden light figures, and tons of ornamentation. The look is layered, but laid-back. Large, leafy plants are also a key element,

Farmhouse:

Another common style of interior design is Farmhouse. Farmhouse styles have many different approaches. Farmhouse can be considered rustic, with the use of exposed beams and wooden decorations. Or, one can take a more modern design approach, with the use of reclaimed wood, shiplap, and a neutral color palette. Modern farmhouse is one of the most trending design styles in 2023, and it is predicted to stay just as popular throughout 2024. The farmhouse style is clean, and can often be found used in dining room or kitchen design trends. Just because the interior decorating style is called “farmhouse” doesn’t mean you have to live like you’re in a barn; the style is a clean and timeless look, and a farmhouse style home is often a fan-favorite.

Coastal:

The coastal interior decorating style is one you would likely see in the living space of a home on the beach in California. Complete with lots of natural lighting and shades of blue and white, the coastal style is very popular amongst those who would rather be outside, soaking up the sun. Featuring light colors, natural woods, and beachy decor, this interior design style is perfect for reminiscing of beach days. Shades of blue, seashells, wicker, and nautical decorations elevate the coastal style, and a living room window with a view of the ocean is an ideal element to tie it all together. However, this style is not reserved only for those with a sea-side view; these design elements can work in any space.
